How to Deal with Unexpected Events While Korea Traveling

1. 여권을 분실하였을 경우
이동동선을 확인하여 가게나 호텔, 해당 파출소 등에 연락하여 여권이 있는지를 확인한다.
없을 경우에는 경찰서에 분실 신고를 한다.
분실확인서를 발급 받는다. (제출 서류 : 여권번호, 여권발급일자, 여권만료일자, 여권사진 2매, 여권분실증명확인서- 경찰서 발행 : 여권번호를 모를 시에는 본국에 연락해야 함)
재발급을 신청한다. (해당 대사관 및 영사관 연락)
여행 증명서를 발급 받는다.

1. The loss of passport
Recall every place you went at the time you misplaced your passport. Contact each place such as the store you went to, the hotel you stayed at, or the relevant police box to check whether your passport is there.
If your passport is not in any of those places, report about your lost passport to a police station.
Be issued a lost item confirmation document. (Required materials: Passport number, passport issuance date, passport expiration date, 2 passport photos, certificate of lost status of passport (can be issued at a police station); if you do not know your passport number, you must contact your home country.)
Apply for re-issuance. (Contact the relevant embassy and consulate)
Be issued a travel certificate.

2. 물품을 분실한 경우 (종합)
여행자 보험 가입 시 보험으로 처리할 수 있는 휴대품 분실 보상액의 한도가 정해져 있으므로, 여행자 보험 가입 여부를 확인하고 가족 모두 도난당한 경우 50만원 이상일 시에는 나누어 기입하도록 한다.
신고확인서는 보험 처리 시에 반드시 구비해야 하는 서류이며, 보험 처리시 휴대품은 여행객이 영수증으로 보험 증빙서류 첨부할 수 없는 경우가 많음 (영수증은 대부분 미보관하며 즉시 버리기 때문에). 영수증이 없을 경우 도난품 품명 및 모델 번호 등을 최대한 정확하게 기재할 수 있도록 한다.
현금이나 귀중품의 분실은 본인 과실이므로 현지 경찰서 및 보험회사에 연락해도 대부분 보상을 받을 수 없지만, 도난의 경우에는 보험회사에서 일정한 보상이 가능하므로 현지 경찰서에 신고하여 신고확인서를 발급받아 보험회사에 청구할 수 있도록 한다.

2. The loss of belonging(s) (General)
If you have the traveler’s insurance, there is a specific limit already set on the amount of compensation possible for a lost belonging, so double check whether you have traveler’s insurance. If everyone in your family had their belongings stolen and the amount of compensation due is KRW 500,000 or more, divide up the amount and write in the information individually.
A report confirmation document is required in filing an insurance claim, and in many cases, travelers are unable to attach receipts for their belongings as evidence (since people usually discard them immediately and do not keep their receipts). If you do not have a receipt for your stolen item, try your best to provide identifiable information such as the exact product name of the item, model number, etc.
Loss of cash or valuables is considered your own negligence. Therefore, in most cases, you cannot be compensated for such items even if you contact a local police station and your insurance company. However, if it was stolen, report the theft to a local police station so that you are issued a report confirmation document which you can use to make a claim to your insurance company.
Process Order: Submit inquiry about the lost item → Specify every place you went around the time you lost the item → Report the lost item → Be issued a lost item report confirmation document

3. 스마트폰을 분실한 경우

안드로이드 - 인터넷 구글 페이지 접속 -> 오른쪽 상단에 앱 서랍 > 내 계정 누르기 > 휴대전화 찾기 > 로그인 후 벨소리 울리기 혹은 위치 찾기 > 마지막으로 접속된 곳의 위치를 지도에 표시해준다. (이 외에도 폰 잠그기 설정 혹은 초기화 가능)

아이폰 – 인터넷 icloud 접속 > 로그인 > iphone 찾기 > 분실모드 - 타인 아이폰 > 설정 > 개인정보보호 > 위치서비스 > 나의 아이폰찾기 > 분실모드

3. The loss of smartphone

Android: Go to Google → Click the app drawer on the top right → Click Account → Click Find My Device → Log in and then ring or search location of your phone → Mark the last known location of your cell phone on the map (You can also lock your phone or reset your phone to factory settings)

iPhone: Go to iCloud → Log in → Click Find My iPhone → Click Lost Mode — If it is someone else’s iPhone → Settings → Privacy Protection → Location Service → Find My iPhone → Lost Mode

4. 신용카드를 분실한 경우
인근 파출소에 전화하여 분실물이 있는지 확인한 후에 부정 사용이 일어날 수 있으므로 즉시 카드사에 연락하여 분실 신고를 한 후 사용 중지 요청을 한다.

4. The loss of credit card
Call the nearby police box to see if your lost card is there. Immediately call your card company to report your card as lost and cancel your card to prevent anyone from using it unlawfully.
